Cleaning procedures with dry ice

Hard times for ineffective and environmentally harmful cleaning methods. When professionally applied, dry ice can even deal with most severe industrial contamination in a few seconds, free from residues and no problems with waste disposal. Consequently, it is possible to reconcile economical efficiency with environmental protection.

With pinpoint accuracy, dry ice is "blasted" directly onto the contamination at a speed of nearly 300 m/s. Thanks to the special physical properties of dry ice, it effectively "eats" through the contamination and removes it gently and free of any residues.

6 crucially important factors

  1. Increase in production and reduction in cost. Many components and machines can be cleaned without disassembly.
  2. No expensive production downtimes caused by dry ice blasting. Production downtimes are shortened or totally avoided.
  3. No costly follow-up treatment and drying after dry ice cleaning.
  4. Abrasion-free cleaning by dry ice blasting. The hardness of the pellets does not cause any surface abrasion.
  5. No disposal of blasting agents. The blasting agent dry ice sublimates into its gaseous state immediately after impact.
  6. Environmentally friendly

How it works

In the dry ice blasting unit, the pellets are accelerated by means of compressed air to a speed of approx. 300 m/s. The pellets striking the object generate an isolated thermoshock. As a result, the coating to be removed contracts and the successive pellets remove the coating and contamination from the subsurface by means of their kinetic energy. Directly after impact, the pellets sublimate (evaporate) as a gas back into the atmosphere. The only residue is the removed coating. Only the removed contaminated coating has to be disposed off. No environmental polluting agent or procedure is used.
