History
As one of the first entrepreneurs of his time, more than 120 years ago Rudolf Ehrenfried Buse was already aware of the many different possible areas of application of CO2 which were opening up in the course of the industrial revolution.
The foundations for the development of the BUSE group were laid in 1883 when he started to produce mineral water in Gerolstein and also, for the first time, naturally sourced carbon dioxide to be marketed to the bottling industry.
In the course of the following decades, not only the mineral water business continued to expand, but BUSE also developed to become one of the market leaders for CO2 in Germany and neighboring countries. Simultaneously, the basic expertise for applications engineering and plant construction has been continuously expanded. BUSE CO2 production and recovery plants are in use all over the world. Further plants are constantly being installed for customers in a variety of industries.
In 1984, BUSE decided to consolidate its mineral water business in Gerolstein with the most important local competitor, which resulted in the emergence of Gerolsteiner Brunnen GmbH & Co. KG (BUSE share: 32 %) and what is still today Germany-s leading brand of mineral water.
